Sunday November 7, 2004Even an earlier start at 5:30 am. The first day with the Oz Experience tour as we head by bus to Katherine. We get to canoe at Katherine Gorge and see Edith Falls and Adelaide river. I will spend the night camped out at a Katherine camp site.
Monday November 8, 2004Travelling from Katherine (7am start) to Juno we get to see Daly Waters the oldest pub in the Northern Territory. We also go to Mataranka 'never never country' and relax in the Thermal pools. We spend the night at Juno House Farm.
Tuesday November 9, 2004I head on to Alice Springs and leave Juno House Farm at 6 am. We get to stop at the Tropic of Capricorn and see Devils marbles which are three mysterious formations. They are part of the Aboriginal Dreamtime story and are supposed to be eggs from the rainbow serpent. I get to swim again at the Mary Ann Dam. Also go on a tour of a Battery Stamp Mine which was a former gold mine. Also get to go to Banka Banka cattle station and meet some ringers. Arrive in Alice Springs to sleep.
Wednesday November 10, 2004Rest Day. After the exhausting tour Kakadu and the trek up to Alice Springs I get to take it easy today.
Thursday November 11, 2004
First Day of my Uluru (Ayer's Rock) tour. I also get to see Watarrka (King's Canyon) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). The first night I will be camping out again with my trustworthy sleeping bag.
Friday November 12, 2004Second day of Uluru tour. The Uluru rock is largest rock on Earth and is a spiritual site to the aboriginals.
Saturday November 13, 2004First Day of trip to Cairns as I have a super early start at 5:30-6 am. I head off to Boulia and through the 700 km Plenty highway.Most amazing will be able to see the Cathedral Termite Mounds which were constructed by the largest insects on Earth and are up to 100 years old. I will go through the Aussie tornado alley and visit the Atitijere aboriginal community. Also I get to see the Min Min light which is mysterious ball of light people see at night. I will spend the night in Boulia.
Sunday November 13, 2004I depart at 6:30 am from the Australian hotel. I go to the small town of Winton which is the home of Waltzing Matilda. We see 2 musuems; Bango Patterson's Waltzing Matilda, and Qantildon musuem dedicated to Qantas where is where Qantas started. Lunch will be at Carrisbrooke Station and more aborignal art to see at Python Gorge. I spend the night in Hughenden and the Grand Hotel won a prize for Best Looking Hotel in 2002 for the Queensland region. Probably not much competiton. Highlights from this day include seeing Atherton Tabelands which has a rainforest and an active volcano. I get to see Millaream Falls and take a swim in Pyramid springs which is in Porcupine Gorge.
